The head of the Uttarakhand unit of Congress, Karan Mahara, has accused the BJP of infiltrating the party with its “sleeper cells” in an attempt to undermine it. Although Mahara did not explicitly name anyone, he suggested that those criticizing a Congress leader were likely aligned with the BJP.

According to Mahara, these individuals were strategically placed within the Congress by the BJP and are staunch supporters of the BJP. He asserted that they actively oppose and engage in the “character assassination” of anyone working to strengthen the Congress. Speaking to party members, Mahara referred to a meeting involving BJP MLAs and claimed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had advised them to employ a strategy of “idol breaking” to weaken the Congress and seize power.

Mahara explained that “idol breaking” involves character assassination of effective Congress leaders, a tactic he believes is being carried out by individuals planted in the Congress by the BJP. He cautioned party workers to remain vigilant against such elements, emphasizing their dual allegiance by being present in the Congress office during the day and at the homes of BJP leaders at night.
